Fixing Your Credit? Leave Positive, Closed Accounts ALONE!

I receive many emails and DMs from people who have removed a closed account because they believed it was harming their credit scores.

FALSE!

If it's closed and positive, leave it alone. “Positive” means it was closed as paid as agreed, versus a collection, charge-off, or with a balance remaining due.

Positive closed accounts help your payment history and your length of age as long as it is reporting on your credit report. That's 50% of your credit scores!

Leave 'em alone!

Hope this helps!

  1. I didn’t know this. I was thinking of disputing the old positive accounts because they were old, but now I know I should just leave them alone. Thanks for sharing.
