The Frugal Creditnista

Received a summons for a lawsuit and decided to make payment arrangements prior to? Okay, but still go to court!

So, you decided to make payment arrangements with a creditor to avoid going to court and possibly getting a judgment? That's cool, but don't think for a second that they won't proceed with obtaining a judgment against you.

Why? Because you are making payments on the debt, not completely paying off or settling the debt in full. The creditor is not going to trust that you will continue to make your payments on time every month, or the debt wouldn't be in default in the first place.

Therefore, I'd still go to court; and prior to going to court, I'd still respond to the summons.

Personally, I'm all for settling a debt in full versus making payment arrangements, you end up doing more harm than good.

Hope this helps!
